Our commitment to special education entails the provision of individually tailored instruction, provided at no cost to parents, to cater to the specific requirements of each child. Under the federal law known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), services are guaranteed to children with disabilities nationwide. These support services are designed to ensure that all students with disabilities have their needs met and are formally outlined in either an Individual Education Program or Plan (IEP) or a 504 Educational Plan.

If you have concerns regarding your child's potential disability or questions related to their IEP, we encourage you to contact your child's teacher, the principal of your respective school, or contact the Special Education Office for guidance and assistance.

If you are moving into the Jonesboro School District from another district within the state or from out of state, it would greatly assist in determining the appropriate program and placement for your child if the following were provided before or at the time of enrollment:

1. Individual Education Plan
2. Evaluations (Psychological, Educational, Emotional, Medical, etc.)
3. Due Process Paperwork: Annual Review, Evaluation/Programming Conference, Social History
4. Other Data related to Special Education
