Did you know?
We celebrate Earth Day April 22nd!
Earth is the third planet from the sun!
Earth travels around the sun each year; it takes 365 days!
We are selling Buff City Soap bars to raise money for UHE FRIENDS! These limited edition soap bars are $10. They will be black and gold (Raider colors) and have the Buff City Magnolia scent. Order forms will be sent home and are due with money on Friday, April 16th!
Spring is here! We are excited for longer days in the sunshine and warmer weather. One of our favorite activities is watching things grow. At UHE, we sent home a packet of seeds with every child! We hope this month, you can take time as a family to plant seeds and watch them come to life. This is a great time to teach your child about responsibility and science at the same time!
There are some great life lessons that can be learned from planting and nurturing seeds such as:
*Responsibility - You must follow the instructions given on how to best plant and nurture the seeds.
*Patience - In our fast paced lives, we are used to instant gratification. Waiting for the seed to mature helps develop patience.
*Practice Reading and Following Directions - The directions to care for your seeds are located on the back of the package. With your child, you can read how to best plant and care for the seeds. Let them give reading the instructions a try!
*We can’t control everything, and that’s OK! - You can care for the seeds and still not get what you had planned. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, and that’s OK!
Read Across America week is March 1-5! It’s an opportunity to share with our students the joy of reading! It’s always on or around Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd! We know that this is a busy season, but we hope this month you can make intentional time to read as a family. Take turns choosing which book you read as a family. You can make it even more fun by creating a cozy corner in your home, made with your favorite blankets and pillows! Make it your child’s reading place. Give it a fun name. Let’s start now, nurturing a love for reading!
Staying healthy is more important now than ever before. We hope these tips can help you as your family does their best to stay well this season!

This season is undoubtedly one of the busiest seasons for many families. UHE is no exception. December has been full of learning, fun, and celebration. This year, we are most thankful for one another and for the health of ourselves and our families. In a season of unpredictable circumstances, the faculty and staff at UHE have worked hard to provide students with the most normal holiday season possible.During this season we have celebrated and learned about holiday traditions held around the world, shopped for our families at the UHE Christmas Store, had a special visit from Santa, we dressed up, we had a crazy elf named Peppermint running around, we had parties together, just to name a few. We hope that your family has a great holiday season and you are able to stay healthy and safe until we come together again in January.
