Shoe Drive

Please drop off your used wearable or new shoes to one of the Nettleton EAST Programs. Ozark Water Projects will export them to distributors in South America, Haiti and Kenya. Shoe resale builds the local developing economy with micro businesses and affordable shoes for pennies. OWP will use the money to purchase well-drilling rigs, water filtration systems, and other supplies to bring clean, fresh water to those in need.

Nettleton Public Schools has implemented the E-Notes Notification System to provide timely communication to parents, students, and staff members regarding district and campus news, activities and classroom events such as projects, test, or field trips. This brief video explains the sign up process.

Dear Nettleton School Families:

The Nettleton School District is one of the districts in the state of  Arkansas which has been granted approval for use of Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days to be offered during the 2017-2018 school year.  The approval of our AMI plan allows the opportunity for all Nettleton students to be engaged in relevant learning on inclement weather or emergency days when conditions prevent schools from being in session.

What is an alternative method of instruction (AMI) plan?

Act 862 of 2017 allows a public school district to develop a plan for alternative methods of instruction to be used on days when the superintendent closes school due to exceptional or emergency circumstances. Nettleton School District’s AMI plan was approved by the Commissioner of Education. The district was granted the equivalent of five student attendance days to be used as AMI days. These days are to be used on days when the Nettleton School District is closed due to exceptional or emergency circumstances such as contagious disease outbreak, inclement weather, or other acts of God; or a utility outage. AMI days allow for learning to take place when school is closed for unforeseen circumstances. The goal is to avoid an interruption of the learning process. If students engage in the learning experiences fo an AMI day, then the day will be counted as a regular school day and not have to be made up at the end of the year.

How will AMI days work?

Students will be provided digital and/or hard-copy content depending on the school they attend. Students with Internet access will be able to complete work electronically while students who do not have Internet access will complete paper packets. Students will have five days after the AMI period to complete required work. Extended time will be available for those circumstances whereby the work could not be completed. The completion of each AMI day’s assignments will count for the student’s attendance for each day. Each school’s AMI plan will be based on their student’s needs. In the coming days you will receive information from your child’s school with more specific, detailed information, including teacher availability for student communication during an AMI day.

What do Families Need to do Now?

1.  Watch for more information on the AMI plan from your child’s school.

2.  Promptly respond to requests for information about Internet access or other questions.

3.  Talk with your child about expectations for completion of his/her work on AMI days.

We are proud to have been selected as one of the first districts to offer AMI days. We will monitor and make necessary adjustments to improve our AMI plan to best meet the needs of our students. We welcome your feedback and invite you to share information with us about how its is working for your family. If you have further questions, please talk with your child’s principal. We look forward to providing students with educational opportunities for learning to take place regardless of the physical location of the teachers and students.
